Softball Recap: Mott Takes a Loss

Mott dropped down to 7-5 on Wednesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 7-1 to the Cousino Patriots. The matchup marked the Marauders' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

As for Cousino, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-8. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

For Cousino's part, Haley Neal was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Neal has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Davi Wieczorek and Isabella Hormillosa did most of the damage at the plate: Wieczorek went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double, while Hormillosa went 2-for-4 with two triples, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Hormillosa has posted since back in April.

Mott does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cousino, they will head out to face off against Utica Ford at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
