Basketball Recap: Macon Comes Up Short

Macon lost against South Shelby back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Macon Tigers came up short against the South Shelby Cardinals, falling 60-36. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 324th, while the Cardinals are ranked 18th).

South Shelby was led to victory by Hannah Gaines and Callie Mcwilliams. Gaines went 6-for-8 from beyond the arc to rack up 18 points and six boards, while Mcwilliams posted ten points and seven steals. That's the most rebounds Gaines has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Charlie Roush, who scored nine points and five boards.

Macon has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for South Shelby, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 21-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers face off against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Shelby, they are taking a road trip to take on Clark County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
