Volleyball Recap: Southern Valley Starts off Right with Win over Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood]

Southern Valley gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They won by a set and slipped past Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] 3-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (103-96) Southern Valley actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-20, 15-25, 16-25, 15-12.

Southern Valley found their leader in sophomore Laney Becker, who had seven digs and three aces.

Southern Valley was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Coming up, Southern Valley will face off against Gothenburg at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood], they have already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Arcadia/Loup City on the 29th.
