Basketball Recap: Philip Simmons Comes Up Short

Philip Simmons was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 67-19 loss at the hands of the Goose Creek Gators. The Iron Horses lost against the Gators in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 54-34 score last time.

Despite the loss, Philip Simmons still got an impressive performance from Germany Moore, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. What's more, Moore also racked up two assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2023.

Goose Creek found their leader in sophomore Madelin Dates, who posted 25 points and four steals. With that strong performance, Dates is now averaging an impressive 16.6 points per game. Jalaiya Jacobs was another key player, putting up eight points and 11 steals.

Philip Simmons' record is now 1-5. As for Goose Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Philip Simmons wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 50-31 loss against Wando on the 16th. As for Goose Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 63-53 defeat against First Baptist School on the 14th.
