It's playoff time, and St. Johns Country Day had no trouble coming through when it counted. They had just enough and edged out the North Florida Christian Eagles 8-7. Winning may never get old, but the Spartans sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.

Hunter Rodgers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

In other pitching news, St. Johns Country Day got a great performance from Ethan Bissell as he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Back at the plate, Nick Bowden was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gibby Gilliand, who went 2-for-5 with one home run and two runs.

St. Johns Country Day pushed their record up to 23-8 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for North Florida Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-18.
