Basketball Recap: Classical Academy's Win Ends Eight-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Classical Academy hadn't done well against San Pasqual recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Classical Academy Caimans had just enough and edged the San Pasqual Golden Eagles out 43-40. This was payback for the Caimans, who suffered a 64-54 loss the last time these two teams met.

Classical Academy found their leader in freshman Issac Chapman, who went 8 of 13 on his way to 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Chapman has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan French, who posted ten points.

San Pasqual's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trent Butler, who had seven points. The dominant performance gave Butler a new career-high in points. Isaac Zamora was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

Classical Academy's win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-7. As for San Pasqual, their loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Classical Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. San Pasqual will also get a bit of a break before their next contest: they'll face off against Orange Glen at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
