Baseball Game Preview: Windermere Wolverines vs. Alonso Ravens

For the second straight game, Windermere will face off against Alonso. The Wolverines will square off against the Ravens at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Windermere 3.5, Alonso 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Windermere is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They came out on top against Alonso by a score of 10-5. Windermere's win was all the more impressive since the Ravens were averaging only 3.48 runs allowed on the season.

Oscar Fernandez looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Randy Ruiz, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run and four runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Joey Waddingham, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.

Windermere always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alonso only posted an OBP of .344.

Windermere is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches. That somehow still isn't as good as their 22-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Alonso, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-11.
