Basketball Game Preview: Calhoun City Wildcats vs. Coffeeville Pirates

The Calhoun City Wildcats will venture away from home to take on the Coffeeville Pirates at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Calhoun City saw some tournament action on Saturday. They lost 71-51 to Chiles. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Wildcats came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 99th in Mississippi, while the Timberwolves are ranked 350th in Florida).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Coffeeville, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They managed a 62-58 win over Wheeler on Monday.

Coffeeville pushed their record up to 9-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Calhoun City, their loss dropped their record down to 12-3.

Calhoun City beat Coffeeville 72-65 in their previous matchup back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Calhoun City since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
