Softball Game Preview: Wheatmore Warriors vs. Eastern Randolph Wildcats

Wheatmore is 1-9 against Eastern Randolph since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Warriors will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Wheatmore lost 8-2 to Providence Grove on Friday. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Adalyn Boles spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and five unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Maddie Nichols was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Carter, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Eastern Randolph fell victim to Randleman and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 16-0. The Wildcats' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Wheatmore's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Eastern Randolph, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.

Eastern Randolph's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Wheatmore hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. It's a different story for Eastern Randolph, though, as they've only averaged .252. Will they be able to contain Wheatmore's hitters?

Wheatmore took their victory against Eastern Randolph when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 16-5 score. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
