Basketball Game Preview: King Mustangs vs. Ray Texans

The King Mustangs will head out on the road to square off against the Ray Texans at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for King and 17 for Ray.

Last Friday, King came up short against Miller and fell 44-31.

Despite the loss, King saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Janiya Heard posted four points along with ten rebounds and five blocks. Heard has been hot recently, having posted three or more blocks the last four times she's played.

Meanwhile, Ray took a blow against Gregory-Portland on Friday, falling 69-29. While losing is never fun, the Texans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1271st, while the Wildcats are ranked 457th).

King's defeat dropped their record down to 9-24. As for Ray, their loss dropped their record down to 2-18.

Everything went King's way against Ray in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as King made off with a 64-42 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for King since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
