Basketball Recap: Effingham Hearts vs. Charleston Trojans
Effingham was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-56 heartbreaker at the hands of the Charleston Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, with their most recent defeat being a 52-42 loss back in January.
Charleston's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Luke Bonnstetter, who went 7-for-14 to rack up 21 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Bonnstetter has scored at least a third of Charleston's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Burk Anderson, who posted 12 points and five boards.
Effingham's defeat dropped their record down to 6-22. As for Charleston, their victory bumped their record up to 11-16.
Coming up, Effingham will face off against Sullivan on Saturday. As for Charleston, they will square off against Marshall at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Charleston has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
