Basketball Recap: Lyon County Takes a Loss

Lyon County lost against Henderson County back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Lyon County Lyons were dealt a 77-40 defeat at the hands of the Henderson County Colonels. While losing is never fun, the Lyons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while the Colonels are ranked tenth).

Allyson Rideout continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Henderson County, shooting 47% from the field to rack up 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists. The dominant performance gave Rideout a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Kemp, who went 5-for-7 en route to 12 points along with five boards and four steals.

Lyon County's loss dropped their record down to 20-9. As for Henderson County, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-5 record this season.

Lyon County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Henderson County, they will square off against Hopkins County Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Henderson County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 games -- so hopefully Hopkins County Central likes a good challenge.
