Softball Recap: Whitesboro Extends Home Winning Streak to 15

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Reedy, Whitesboro was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They came out on top against the Carthage Bulldogs by a score of 6-2.

Avery Howerton made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bradi Gallaway, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Makayla Wolf was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Whitesboro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Whitesboro's victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.1 runs. As for Carthage, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2-1.

Looking ahead, Whitesboro will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Frisco at 4:40 p.m. As for Carthage, they will take on Redwater in a tournament on Thursday.
