Basketball Recap: Otis-Bison Sets Scoring Season-High Against Chase

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Otis-Bison). They breezed by the Chase Kats to the tune of 61-27 on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Otis-Bison found their leader in freshman Allie Smith, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 boards. Those 15 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Smith. Grace Smith was another key player, putting up six points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Otis-Bison was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Otis-Bison's victory bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Chase, they are on a 38-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-17.

Otis-Bison and Chase could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings. Otis-Bison (ranked 302nd) will meet St. John (ranked 90th) on Tuesday. Otis-Bison is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. Meanwhile, Chase will square off against LaCrosse at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 201 places (348 vs. 147).
