Recap: Starkville Yellowjackets vs. Tupelo Golden Wave
After some red-hot offensive attacks in their last five matches, The Starkville Yellowjackets finally came back down to earth on Thursday. They were beaten by Tupelo 36-6. Starkville was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Tupelo apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
Jeremiah Harrell had an outrageously good game for Tupelo as he threw for 185 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Jaeden Hill and his 84 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Tupelo's win.
Starkville's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Tupelo, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Starkville will take on Southaven at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. As for Tupelo, they will be playing at home against DeSoto Central at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. DeSoto Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while Tupelo is ranked sixth).
