Baseball Game Preview: Indian River Indians vs. Lake Forest Spartans

The Indian River Indians will challenge the Lake Forest Spartans on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Indian River comes in on five and Lake Forest on four.

Indian River is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Delaware's top teams: Archmere Academy, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Indian River was ranked ninth). The Indians didn't even let the Auks on the board on Monday, marking the Indians' second-straight 6-0 shutout. Considering the Indians have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Lake Forest sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Dover on Thursday.

Indian River pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Forest, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.

Indian River came out on top in a nail-biter against Lake Forest in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
