Basketball Recap: Shanley Takes a Loss

Shanley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Red River Roughriders and fell 88-52. While losing is never fun, the Deacons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Roughriders are ranked 18th).

Shanley's defeat dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Red River, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shanley will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Fargo North at 7:15 p.m. on January 28th. As for Red River, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Grand Forks Central at 7:15 p.m. on January 24th.
