Baseball Recap: Sacred Heart-Griffin Comes Up Short

Sacred Heart-Griffin extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 17-7 in the process. They fell 7-2 to the Jacksonville Crimsons. Cyclones fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Crimsons since on Tuesday.

As for Jacksonville, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-12. The game was the first time they have beaten Sacred Heart-Griffin on their field since April 26, 2021.

For Jacksonville's part, Cy Kershaw spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits. Kershaw has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Anderson Decker was excellent, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Looking ahead, Sacred Heart-Griffin will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Glenwood at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cyclones 3.8, the Titans 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Jacksonville, they will square off against Riverton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Crimsons are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
