Baseball Recap: Gross Catholic Comes Up Short

Gross Catholic entered their game against Bennington on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Cougars lost 11-3 to the Badgers. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Cougars, who until this match were averaging 3.56 runs allowed.

Gross Catholic got a good showing from Noah Holoubek, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Gross Catholic saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drew Powers, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 7-2. As for Bennington, the win keeps they at an undefeated 11-0.

The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cougars 3.6, the SkyHawks 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Bennington will square off against rival Crete at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
