Trinity Prep extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping them down to 1-6. They came up short against the Orangewood Christian Rams, falling 9-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 two weeks ago.
As for Orangewood Christian, the win keeps them at an undefeated 11-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average this season.
For Orangewood Christian's part, James Grimm was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Grimm has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other pitching news, Orangewood Christian gave Rhys Oldham the start and clearly made the right call: he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Oldham has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Tre Roach and Austin Wendorf did most of the damage at the plate: Roach got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run, while Wendorf went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Aaron McClarnon was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Trinity Prep will host Cornerstone Charter Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Orangewood Christian, they are taking a road trip to face off against The Master's Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rams' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
