Baseball Recap: Richland County Comes Up Short

Richland County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 11-7 to the Effingham Hearts. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 15-1 to the Hearts when the teams met back in April of 2021, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Gavin Root was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Richland County's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Effingham, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Richland County will head out on the road to square off against Flora at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Effingham, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against North Clay/Clay City at 4:30 p.m. North Clay/Clay City will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Effingham surely won't give up without a fight.
