Recap: Longview Christian vs. Heritage Christian Eagles
If Longview Christian were riding high off their 54-13 takedown of the Poetry Community Christian Pioneer last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Longview Christian took a 52-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Heritage Christian on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Longview Christian of the 43-23 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Longview Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Madi Newlin. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Bella Smith was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with four steals.
Heritage Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deanna Montgomery, who scored 14 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Montgomery has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Darland, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Longview Christian's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Heritage Christian, they pushed their record up to 12-7 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Longview Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 47-32 win vs. Greenville Christian on the 9th. Heritage Christian has also already played their next match, a 49-7 victory against Poetry Community Christian on the 9th.
