With a playoff win on the line, Scottsdale Christian Academy rose to the challenge on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Morenci Wildcats a 55-0 shutout. Considering the Eagles have won nine matchups by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Sean Helgeson had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 97 yards and two scores on only six carries, while also throwing for 156 yards and one TD while completing 83.3% of his passes. Those 97 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. 97 of Helgeson's passing yards were hauled in by Dom Dickerson, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Scottsdale Christian Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 263 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Scottsdale Christian Academy's defense and their four sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: London Olsen, Michael Fox, and Nathaniel Elrod, who each picked up one sack apiece.

When it comes to explaining why Morenci lost, don't look at Julien Aragon. Despite the final result, he rushed for 128 yards on only 11 carries. Aragon's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 128 rushing yards.

Scottsdale Christian Academy's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.8 points on average this season. As for Morenci, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.

Looking ahead, Scottsdale Christian Academy will face off against San Tan Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Eagles 11.5, the Roadrunners 11.5) so any points scored will be well earned. Morenci does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
