Montgomery came out on top against Benton on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive 14-run third inning. The Red Raiders were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Tigers. The Red Raiders have beaten the Tigers the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Tigers has come to flipping the script.

Parker Bennett was a standout: he got on base in two of his three plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Hugar, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.

Montgomery always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .679. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Benton only posted an OBP of .412.

Montgomery's record is now 9-2. As for Benton, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Montgomery will venture away from home to take on Muncy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Benton, they will head out to face off against Sugar Valley Rural at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Phoenix have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed ten runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
