Softball Recap: Kearsley Comes Up Short

Kearsley extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-8 in the process. They came up short against the Swartz Creek Dragons, falling 16-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dragons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-2 back in April.

As for Swartz Creek, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-6. That 16 run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

For Swartz Creek's part, Avery Ludwig was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ludwig was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Abbie Schultz was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Reese Redlich was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kearsley will head out to face off against Linden at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Swartz Creek, they will face off against Birch Run at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
