Philomath never let their opponents score on Thursday. They blew past the North Marion Huskies 12-0. Considering the Warriors have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Not much got past Hailey Smith, who gave up just five hits and racked up six Ks to keep North Marion off the board. Smith has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Philomath let Kaylie Kohler and Haley King run wild. Kohler got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while King went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and four RBI. Those four RBI gave King a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rylee Martin, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Philomath kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.
The victory got Philomath back to even at 11-11. As for North Marion, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.
