Chaparral gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They pulled ahead with a 59-58 photo finish over the Gadsden Panthers. This was payback for the Lobos, who suffered a 45-40 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Despite the loss, Gadsden still got an impressive performance from Jose Alvarez, who almost dropped a double-double with 25 points and nine rebounds. Alvarez has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Damian Augustin, who posted 16 points.

Chaparral has already played their next contest, an 80-56 loss against Cobre on the 2nd. As for Gadsden, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 77-28 defeat against Roswell on the 2nd.
