Football Game Preview: Swansboro Pirates vs. Northside - Jacksonville Monarchs

Swansboro hasn't had much luck against Northside - Jacksonville recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Pirates will head out on the road to challenge the Monarchs at 7:00 p.m. Swansboro has given up an average of 34.6 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Friday, Swansboro was beaten by Havelock 50-14. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while the Rams are ranked 144th).

Nolan Armstrong put forth a good effort for the losing side as he picked up ten receiving yards and one TD, and also threw for 49 yards and one touchdown. Swansboro also got help from Carmello Beasley, who showed off his sure hands for 89 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, Northside - Jacksonville waltzed into their game on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 50-39. The Monarchs' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Northside - Jacksonville's win came from a few key players Swansboro will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was REGINALD GRAY, who threw for 291 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 33 yards and a pair of scores. What's more, he posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in August. Northside - Jacksonville's leading receiver GAVYN DAVIS was GRAY's top target yet again, picking up 134 receiving yards and one touchdown, while also punching in one score on the ground.

Swansboro's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Northside - Jacksonville, their record now sits at 7-1.

Swansboro couldn't quite get it done against Northside - Jacksonville in their previous meeting back in August of 2024 as they fell 21-14. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
