Basketball Recap: Samaria Knick's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Dan River over Appomattox County

Dan River was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 51-37 bruising from the Appomattox County Raiders. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 44-16 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Samaria Knick, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 20 rebounds. Knick is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Katie Evans, who posted nine points and eight rebounds.

Dan River's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Appomattox County, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-7.

Dan River didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-32 defeat against Martinsville on the 27th. As for Appomattox County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 61-58 victory against Gretna on the 28th.
