After a string of five wins, Letcher County Central's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They came up short against the Independence Patriots, falling 13-6.

Kaily Bentley was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

Letcher County Central's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Independence, they pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Letcher County Central will be taking part in a tournament against East Carter at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Independence, they will challenge Russell at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots are facing the Red Devils at the right time seeing as the Red Devils are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
