Volleyball Recap: New Caney Takes a Loss

New Caney was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Willis Wildkats, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildkats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 25-17, 25-12.

Willis' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but CARLEIGH KNOBLACH led the charge by getting 15 assists and four aces. Those 15 assists gave KNOBLACH a new career-high. Another player making a difference was AVERY WOOD, who had 13 digs.

New Caney's loss dropped their record down to 14-23. As for Willis, they pushed their record up to 21-18 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. New Caney is set to square off against their familiar foe Caney Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Willis will face off against rival Conroe at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
