Football Game Preview: Grant Cougars vs. Franklin Parish Patriots + Official Tickets

Grant hasn't had much luck against Franklin Parish recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Cougars will welcome the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. Grant knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Franklin Parish likes a good challenge.

It was a proper cat-fight when Grant faced off against Wossman on Friday. The Cougars were beaten by the Wildcats 73-36. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 227th, while the Wildcats are ranked 94th).

Meanwhile, Franklin Parish won against West Ouachita last Friday with 55 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Patriots took their contest with ease, bagging a 55-14 victory over Peabody. Considering the Patriots have won five games by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Franklin Parish's win came from a few key players Grant will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Dezyrian Ellis, who threw for 217 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 46 yards. His passing game has become a key predictor of Franklin Parish's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Malique Credit was Ellis' top target, picking up 48 receiving yards and one score, while also rushing for 59 yards and one TD.

Franklin Parish is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.5 points over those games. As for Grant, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Grant was taken down by Franklin Parish 53-0 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Patriots' DJ Neal, who rushed for 163 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only nine carries.
