Volleyball Recap: Fremont Firebirds vs. Wilcox Chargers
Fremont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wilcox Chargers. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 15, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Fremont started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-27, 25-16, 25-19, 25-15.
Eli Geddes paced Fremont's offense, picking up ten kills. Geddes got some help from Neebir Natarjan and his 17 assists. Finally, Ciaran McManus and Nitin Krishna kept the team grounded on defense, each having blocked two attacks.
Fremont's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Wilcox, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fremont will head out to challenge Mountain View at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Wilcox, they will venture away from home to square off against Saratoga at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Wilcox is facing Saratoga at the right time seeing as Saratoga is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
