Basketball Recap: Boardman Takes a Loss

Boardman was the 74-70 winner over Austintown-Fitch when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. The Boardman Spartans fell to the Austintown-Fitch Falcons 70-64. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Austintown-Fitch's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marcel Finkley, who went 8 for 11 en route to 21 points and six assists. Finkley's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Carter Owens, who posted 19 points along with five boards and four steals.

Boardman's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Austintown-Fitch, their win bumped their record up to 9-11.

Coming up, Boardman will square off against Canton Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Austintown-Fitch, they will take on Green at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Austintown-Fitch is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.6 points per game this season.
