Hoover extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 8-6. They lost 26-6 to the La Jolla Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 24-12 back in April.
Lilly Robles was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Katherine Sandoval, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
As for La Jolla, they pushed their record up to 12-11 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On La Jolla's side, Jacey Taylor was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Taylor was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2 runs per game.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aviv Laska, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and eight RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Putnam, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Hoover didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 18-8 victory against Crawford on the 13th. As for La Jolla, they have also already played their next contest, a 20-2 win against High Tech SD on the 14th.
