Basketball Recap: Allen East Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Victory

Allen East came tearing into Tuesday's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.1 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 65-26 victory over the Van Buren Black Knights. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 21 points or more this season.

Allen East was led to victory by Rilynn Jones and Evelyn Lehman. Jones went 8 for 15 on her way to 21 points and six steals, while Lehman went 8 of 14 from beyond the arc on her way to 24 points. Jones' evening made it 12 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynn Richardson, who posted eight points.

Allen East smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Allen East pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29.8 points. As for Van Buren, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Allen East will look to defend their home court on Monday against Wayne Trace at 6:00 p.m. As for Van Buren, they will head out to square off against Leipsic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Van Buren is facing Leipsic at the right time seeing as Leipsic is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
