Lubbock-Cooper's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Monterey Plainsmen by a score of 3-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in September.

Lubbock-Cooper had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-13, 25-14, 25-23.

Despite the defeat, Monterey saw an underclassman step up: freshman Elly Varghese had 14 assists and two aces.

Lubbock-Cooper has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-11 record this season. As for Monterey, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 23-16.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Lubbock-Cooper is set to challenge their familiar foe Amarillo at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Monterey will take on rival Palo Duro at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
