Softball Recap: Buena Comes Up Short

The Buena Colts came up short against the Casa Grande Cougars on Monday and fell 19-14. Even though they lost, the Colts' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.4 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Buena got a massive performance out of Hailey Larson, who went 3-for-5 with six RBI, two doubles, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Smith, who went 3-for-6 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Buena and nudges their season record down to 5-18. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Casa Grande, they moved to 13-7 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Buena will welcome Desert View at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Colts' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Casa Grande, they will host Catalina Foothills at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars are on a three-game streak of home losses, and the Falcons a seven-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck.
