Baseball Recap: Munford Takes a Loss

Munford fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Lausanne Collegiate on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 13-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lausanne Collegiate Lynx. The loss was the Cougars' first of the season.

Brodie Fortner was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Fortner was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jaxzen Scheidt stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 2-for-3 with one home run. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Another player making a difference was Adyn Childress, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Having lost for the first time this season, Munford fell to 2-1.

Coming up, Munford will take on Jackson North Side at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Lausanne Collegiate, they will host Arlington at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
