Softball Recap: Jonesport-Beals Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Jonesport-Beals got themselves on the board against Searsport on Wednesday, but Searsport never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Vikings. Considering the Royals have won three games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Aspen Alley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jonesport-Beals got a massive performance out of Makayla Merchant, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Melody Gray also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Jonesport-Beals always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .786. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Jonesport-Beals' victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 12.3 runs this season. As for Searsport, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Looking ahead, Jonesport-Beals will venture away from home to face off against Woodland at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Searsport, they will host Sumner at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
