Christoval and Ozona are an even 3-3 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Cougars will head out on the road to challenge the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Christoval came up short against Sonora on Friday, falling 38-14. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Although Christoval took the loss, they still got scores from Isreal Bogs and Ty Debusk.

Meanwhile, Ozona put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 46-40 W against Forsan.

Christoval better keep an eye on Christian Villarreal. He was instrumental in Ozona's win, rushing for 411 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.7 yards per carry, and also picking up 53 receiving yards. Villarreal really tore up the turf during one magnificent 92-yard run.

Ozona was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 423 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 196 rushing yards in ten consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Ozona didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Villarreal and Jp Garza. Villarreal's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his tenth straight game with at least 113 rushing yards dating back to last season.

Christoval now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Ozona, their win bumped their record up to 9-0.

Christoval beat Ozona 25-12 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Villarreal, who picked up 77 receiving yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 55 yards.
