Baseball Recap: Wayne Drops Season-High Score on Fairmont

With a playoff win on the line, Wayne rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Fairmont Firebirds by a score of 13-9. The Warriors' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Braylon Byrd was a standout: he went 2-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alex Corbin, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Wayne kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Wayne's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-17. As for Fairmont, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-18.

As of now, neither Wayne nor the Firebirds have any future games scheduled.
