Basketball Recap: Webster County Comes Up Short

Webster County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 69-59 to the Wirt County Tigers.

Leading Wirt County to victory were Tyler Smith and Braylan Dawson. Smith went 8-for-13 on his way to 22 points and seven boards, while Dawson shot 60% from the field to rack up 27 points. Thanks to that strong game, Smith now owns an excellent 46.4% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Easton Wyer, who posted seven points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Webster County's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Wirt County, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Webster County will take on Calhoun at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Highlanders will be up against the Red Devils' rather soft defense (which has allowed 68.56 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Wirt County, they will face off against Roane County at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers will be up against the Raiders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 61.86 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
