Baseball Recap: Holy Cross' Loss Ends Nine-Game Winning Streak on the Road

On Thursday, Holy Cross faced Brother Martin in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Holy Cross Tigers took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Brother Martin Crusaders. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Tigers were not able to get on the board.

Matthew Watson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits.

Holy Cross' defeat ended a nine-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Brother Martin, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holy Cross will face off against Jesuit at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Brother Martin, they will square off against John Curtis Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
