Softball Recap: Springfield Catholic Takes a Loss

Clever hit Springfield Catholic with a four-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Fighting Irish fell just short of the Blue Jays by a score of 8-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Jays this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-5 two weeks ago.

Springfield Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Clever, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springfield Catholic will square off against Willow Springs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Clever, they will take on Southwest at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Jays' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
