Recap: Oakland Wildcats vs. Modesto Christian Crusaders

The Oakland Wildcats waltzed into their matchup on Monday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 79-69 win over Modesto Christian. The win was all the more spectacular given Oakland's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while Modesto Christian is ranked 29th).

Oakland had a senior duo take command as Anthony Lacy scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and Jonathan Chapple scored 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lacy has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Rohm Neal, who scored six points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Oakland has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. As for Modesto Christian, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-4.

Oakland will be playing in front of their home fans against Fremont at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Oakland knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Fremont likes a good challenge. Modesto Christian will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against West at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. Modesto Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten games -- so hopefully West likes a good challenge.
