Soccer Game Preview: Chambers vs. North Mecklenburg

The Chambers Cougars will square off against the North Mecklenburg Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chambers has given up an average of 2.7 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Chambers is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to seven goals on Thursday, they were much more limited against Hopewell on Tuesday. They came up short against the Titans, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, Chambers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 270th, while Hopewell are ranked 119th).

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous ten contests, North Mecklenburg brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. Their defense stepped up to hand West Mecklenburg an 8-0 shutout on Tuesday. It was an even better day for Fatima Sylla as she scored three goals for her team.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-8-1. As for Chambers, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3-1 record this season.

Chambers beat North Mecklenburg by a goal in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 1-0. Will Chambers repeat their success, or does North Mecklenburg has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
