Softball Recap: Conant Has No Trouble Against Saint Viator

It was a proper cat-fight when Conant challenged Saint Viator on Friday. The Cougars were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Lions. With that win, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Cailyn Kehoe, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Falcone, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Conant is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Saint Viator, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 14 of their last 16 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-22 record this season.

Conant will head out to square off against Glenbard East at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cougars 4.1, the Rams 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Saint Viator, they will take on Amundsen at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
