Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northmont). They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Fairmont Firebirds on Monday. For the Thunderbolts, this counts as revenge for the 4-1 win the Firebirds walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Northmont got a great performance from Brady Canan as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Canan has become a key player for the Thunderbolts: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 3-8-1 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Drake Sauber, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Whittaker, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Northmont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Northmont and bumps their season record up to 5-9-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Fairmont, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season.

Northmont will host Springboro at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fairmont will be paying especially close attention to the Thunderbolts' contest: after the Thunderbolts face off against the Panthers, they'll take on Fairmont again at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
