Softball Recap: Newnan Cougars vs. Alexander Cougars

Newnan's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Alexander Cougars as the Newnan Cougars made off with a 10-1 victory. Newnan might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by eight runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Addison Smith, who went 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Presley Ivey, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Newnan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alexander only posted a batting average of .062.

The win got Newnan back to even at 13-13. As for Alexander, they dropped their record down to 14-10 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when Cougars challenges Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Alexander, they will host Villa Rica at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
